Adol Christin, the well-known redhead explorer, wakes up in the strange country of Celceta with only his name in memory. Adol, who is lost in the past, looks around the town he occurred to stumble into in an attempt to get any hint as to who he is. Accompanied by a robber who professes to have been by his side for a few weeks, the young explorer saves doomed miners from an impending collapse, an act that makes him popular with the local Romun Army commander. Inspired by their abilities, the two are sent to survey the vast lands of the Great Forest of Celceta and conduct explorations – a mission that many have tried before but none have ever successfully completed.
With his new-old thief companion Duren, Adol sets out to map the vast and uncharted territory that claimed his memories, eager to solve the riddle of his past and the reason for his current situation. He encounters many more people along the route who appear to have known him previously, so he has to be cautious about who may be trusted.
In 2012, Nihon Falcom, the developer, brought back the characters and setting of the beloved Japanese game Ys IV with Ys: Memories of Celceta for the PlayStation Vita. The following year, the game was released in North America. This reimagining now shifts from small screens to PC monitors, with several upgrades and improvements to make the most of this new medium.
With one of the biggest and most varied overworlds in the lengthy and illustrious history of the series, along with a distinctive take on the party-based combat system that has come to define modern Ys titles, Ys: Memories of Celceta offers a greater sense of adventure to the Ys universe than ever before. This PC version serves as the definitive version of one of the franchise’s most important entries.
