What Remains of Edith Finch is an anthology of bizarre stories about a family in Washington state. It was named Best Game at the 2018 BAFTA Game prizes and won Best Narrative prizes at the GDC 2018 Choice Awards, 2018 SXSW Gaming Awards, and The Game Awards 2017.
In the enormous Finch mansion, you’ll play as Edith, who looks for stories to help her understand her family’s past and why she’s the only member of her family still living. There are stories from the distant past to the present that allow you to experience the life of a new family member on the day of their death.
As diverse as the Finches themselves are, so too are the storylines and gameplay. The fact that each narrative is told from the first person point of view and concludes with the death of a family member are the only things that are consistent.
In the end, the game is about experiencing awe and humility in the face of the enormous and unknown universe we live in.
