In 878 AD, the beleaguered English monarch Alfred the Great defeated the Viking invasion with a valiant defense at the Battle of Edington. After being chastened but not defeated, the Norse warlords have made their way throughout Britain. The land is in a precarious condition of calm for the first time in almost eight decades.
The rulers of England, Scotland, Ireland, and Wales feel a coming period of change and opportunity across this sceptered isle. Treaties will be made. There’s going to be conflict. There will be events that become legendary in a story that traces the rise of one of the greatest countries in history.
There will be kings. There will be one who rules.
Thrones of Britannia is a stand-alone Total War game that will test your ability to alter a pivotal historical event that will ultimately determine the course of contemporary Britain. You have to construct and protect a kingdom to the honor of Anglo-Saxons, Gaelic clans, Welsh tribes, or Viking invaders using ten playable factions. Create alliances, oversee expanding towns, assemble armies, and launch conquest missions on the most intricate Total War map to date.

There are several ways to achieve a glorious victory in the Grand Campaign: you can use force to aggressively expand your territory, gain notoriety through building, cutting-edge technology, and influence, or finish a set of special tasks based on the background of your chosen faction. Pull back the curtain of war and discover the full scope of Anglo-Saxon Britain, from the snow-capped peaks of Scotland to the orchards and meadows of Kent. Numerous varied combat environments are inspired by diverse towns, cities, and rural areas. Play with the newfound strategic openings provided by tiny settlements that can be captured. Limit the trade channels of your adversaries and gently persuade them to leave strong, defendable positions.
