Unlike other games in the Legend of Zelda series, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild offers an open-world that is twelve times larger than Twilight Princess’s overworld and places less emphasis on clearly marked entrances and exits.
Like in the first The Legend of Zelda, the player is dropped into the game’s environment with minimal guidance and free reign to explore at their own leisure.
In the environment, players take control of Link, who can climb and jump practically any surface. They can also find a variety of objects such as clothing, weapons, shields, and food that can be consumed to replenish health. Many weapons have more than one purpose; for instance, shields can be used as temporary snowboards and tree branches can be used to start fires. However, weapons break after prolonged use.
During the game, Link is equipped with a technological device called the Sheikah Slate, which gives players access to a map, lets them set waypoints, and lets them look up enemy stats. The Slate can be enhanced with a variety of abilities by finding different runes, such as the ability to control magnetic items, create bombs, and halt time around adversaries and things.
Gamers utilize a quest log, also known as an adventure log in the game, to keep track of all the major and subsidiary quests that are assigned to them.
The game has an alternate ending that may be unlocked by the player provided they meet specific requirements.
