The story of Agarest starts with a hero who was tasked with killing the Archdemon from birth. The mythology of Yiris, the larva also referred to as the Sacred Princess, who blessed the planet and fell in love with a human, is the centre of the community. After being crucified for her love, the almighty creator chastised her. Soon later, the wicked Archdemon appeared, and Yiris’s boyfriend vowed to use the legendary Ciel Blade—a rainbow-colored sword—to vanquish him.
It is believed that a Hero, or Chosen One, will give birth to an heir who will be able to finally vanquish the Archdemon.

- In True Love Waits, players take control of Rain, the protagonist of the first generation, and get to pick from a variety of bachelorettes to start the game.
