The game, which takes place 25 years after the events of Gears of War 3, features a new generation of heroes while maintaining the cooperative gameplay and fierce, cover-based combat that have made the series famous.

Story:

JD Fenix: Son of Marcus Fenix (He used to be a COG soldier but left to join the Outsiders), Del Walker: JD’s best friend and former COG soldier, Kait Diaz: A fierce Outsider whose mother, Reyna, is the village leader, Marcus Fenix: Legendary war hero, now grizzled and semi-retired are the main characters of the this game.
Village is being attacked by mysterious creatures called the Swarm, many people, including Kait’s mother Reyna, are kidnapped. Hero’s of the game sets off on a mission to rescue her, seeking the help of JD’s estranged father, Marcus Fenix. Together, they uncover the horrifying truth: the Swarm are a new evolutionary form of the Locust, who did not truly die after the events of the previous war, but instead mutated and went into hibernation underground.
They dive deep into Swarm territory there they find Reyna she is beyond saving. In her final moments Kait reveals a medallion given by her mother the symbol of Queen Myrrah. The leader of the Locust from the original trilogy, strongly implying that Kait is a descendant of the queen. This revelation sets the stage for the events of Gears 5, as Kait’s connection to the Swarm becomes a central focus in the continuing battle for humanity’s survival.
