Han Xiongnu Wars is a historical backdrop that appears in role-playing, real-time strategy, and action games during the turbulent early Han Dynasty. Members of ShangShiXuan adhere to historical records and archeological findings in order to authentically portray eastern settings and culture.
The game takes place during the reign of the Wudi Emperor of Han and centers on the conflicts fought at the period between various kingdoms, cities, and tribes as well as those fought between the Han Empire and the Xiongnu on the northern steppes. The universe of the game extends from the eastern Black River bank tribes of Sushen and Fuyu to the western Pamirs, where the lands of Dayuan and Kangju are located. At the time, more than thirty countries, civilizations, and tribes were represented by two hundred cities, both big and tiny.
The game features over a thousand authentic weapons, armors, clothing, buildings, and other artifacts that have been meticulously crafted based on the most recent discoveries in archaeology. A large number of them are created digitally for the first time, giving the player a glimpse of eastern weapons and civilization that dates back more than two millennia. The player can follow a warrior’s route from the middle land to the high steppes, across the shifting sands, and into the highlands with the aid of Qin helmets, Han lamellar, ring-hilt swords, whistling arrows, and eagle bows.
The urban settings depict the topography of local hubs across many cultural contexts. The Western Territory is home to majestic castles that rise along the edge of oasis rivers, while the Han Empire boasts grand palaces, high walls, and towers; nomad tribes are dispersed over the vast grass; and Dian drums may be heard emerging from the forests in the Southwestern mountains. In addition to visiting the streets and bars, the player may run into well-known historical characters, like as Guo Jie and Lei Bei, or legendary generals like Wei Qing and Huo Qubing. The user is able to participate in their missions and follow the well-known historical narratives. A collection of character cards will be awarded to the player after completing some of them. If the player chooses to abstain from violence, they can operate as traders between the two sides of the Great Wall or just explore the area in search of interesting locations or delectable cuisine.
As a seasoned Han Empire soldier, the player can engage in the battles of Monan and join the force of a general, obeying his orders and garrisoning at the border. In addition, the player has the option to take command of a large force on their own by directing the formations in the battleground from a high rock. The player can move up the military ranks and become the imperial commander-in-chief after a series of victories. In order to contend with the great emperors and khans for hegemony, the player may also, if they so want, build workshops, train fresh soldiers, and conquer and control a city for themselves.
